Peach Payments has agreed to acquire PayDunya, a West-African payment platform marking its entry into mainland Francophone Africa. The deal follows Peach Payments’ recent expansions into the Eswatini (2024), Mauritius (2021), and Kenya (2018) markets and will broaden its regional footprint.
This is Peach Payments third strategic buy since closing a $30m funding round, led by the Apis Growth Fund II in late 2023. In February 2024 the company acquired Exipay’s in-store payment technology, and in June 2024, it purchased Operativa, a customer software development firm to boost its engineering capacity.
“By integrating PayDunya, we are expanding our footprint into the UEMOA and CEMAC regions, unlocking new opportunities for merchants who can now partner with us and access over 450 million customers,” saysPeach Payments CEO and co-founder Rahul Jain. “Together, we can now offer seamless payment solutions across 12 countries, and we will continue to expand this coverage rapidly.”
Co-founded in 2014 by Aziz Yérima, PayDunya operates in six West African Francophone countries - Senegal, Côte d’Ivoire, Benin, Burkina Faso, Togo, and Mali - facilitating website and mobile-app payments as well as collection and disbursement of bulk payments.
The platform serves over 4000 B2B customers and processes around 70 000 transactions per day.
“We are thrilled to join forces with Peach Payments, a company that shares our vision of accelerating Africa's digital transformation through innovative financial solutions. Together, we will create a seamless, inclusive, and robust payment ecosystem that empowers African businesses to thrive," Yérima adds.
The deal is expected to be finalised within the next few months, subject to standard closing conditions and procedures.
