The South African Venture Capital and Private Equity Association (SAVCA) has announced the departure of its Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Tshepiso Kobile, who is leaving to pursue new professional opportunities. Kobile joined the organisation in 2022 and led it through a critical transition period.
During her tenure, Kobile oversaw the recruitment and onboarding of a new executive team, significantly contributing to the strengthening of SAVCA’s internal capacity. Her leadership also played a critical role in regulatory engagement, particularly in shaping aspects of the Conduct of Financial Institutions (COFI) Bill. She further contributed to discussions with the Competition Commission and the Department of Trade, Industry and Competition (DTIC)
“Under her leadership, SAVCA strengthened its voice in regulatory and policy discussions. These efforts helped to ensure that private capital is appropriately considered in key policy frameworks,” the organisation said in a statement.
SAVCA is a non-profit industry association representing over 230 members in Southern Africa, who collectively manage assets exceeding R237 billion. The organisation’s mission includes promoting private equity, private debt and venture capital in the region by engaging with regulators and legislators on matters affecting the industry.
The organisation says its board will soon initiate the process to recruit a permanent CEO. In the interim, Nicola Gubb has been appointed as acting executive director to ensure operational continuity and momentum on strategic initiatives.
“We thank her (Kobile) for her contribution to SAVCA’s continued relevance and effectiveness and wish her well as she embarks on the next phase of her career,” the organisation concludes.
